Upmarket food retailer Waitrose is continuing with planned expansion plans and is seeking to open a store in Devizes, Wiltshire. This is according to local estate agents, who have received correspondence from the chair, part of the John Lewis Partnership, asking for suggestions on possible sites suitable for a supermarket.
Waitrose’s growth plans are impressive, with around 300 stores expected to open within the next ten years. They are currently advertising on a nationwide basis for suitable plots of land, but ideally are looking for areas with a high customer foot-fall and relatively strong wealth.
Jobs at Waitrose
are traditionally highly sought after because of the range of benefits on offer to staff. With no shareholders to consider, the John Lewis Partnership rewards staff with annual bonuses (depending on companywide performance) in addition to a range of other perks including health care and subsidised sports and leisure passes.
