Royal Mail Postal Workers Agree Deal with Bosses

by admin on April 27, 2010

royal mailIt looks like the Royal Mail workers dispute is drawing to a close with the news that the majority of workers have now backed plans put forward by management. The deal will have an impact of conditions, pay and jobs with the Royal Mail for the next three years. According to the Communication Workers Union around two thirds of all workers voted in favour of a pay deal just short of 7%. There is also a guarantee on job security and wage reviews on a yearly basis. Recruitment may slow down in the future as the introduction of more automated machinery leading to a lower requirement for personnel.

The news will not only be welcome to workers and management at Royal Mail but also to each and every person in the UK. Postal services suffered towards the end of 2009 as workers staged two strikes in the run up to Christmas.
