Primark, the discount fashion clothing retailer has recently recruited the Matalan Buying Director John Lyttle and has revealed plans for rapid and aggressive expansion into Europe. Primark has grown significantly in the UK over recent years and the aim is to replicate this success in countries right across Europe. Primark is famed for offering up to the minute fashion garments at rock bottom prices.
The new Buying Director will have full responsibility for all Primark sourcing, within both the UK and overseas.
This is not the first time a senior job at Primark has been filled by a candidate from one of its high street rivals. Former Marks and Spencer Director Julian Kilmartin is now Primark’s Buying and Merchandising Director and Katherine Kirk, who was previously employed by Gap works as the company’s Ethical Sourcing Director.
