The German retailer Lidl seeks to continue its UK expansion with another proposed store in Preston, North West England. Bosses have recently submitted plans to take over an existing building and have promised significant investment in the entire site, including the development of a number of small business units. This will not only encourage shoppers to the Preston Road area but also other small businesses.
If the move is granted around 20 new Lidl Jobs will be created on a full time basis, with additional opportunities for those looking for part time or seasonal employment. Lidl is a significant player in the grocery market and demand for its discount lines is continuing to grow. Lidl currently operates around 530 stores in the UK alone and the number of stores in Europe tops 8500.
