Improved Options for Graduates at John Lewis

by admin on June 21, 2010

John Lewis is one of the most recognised names on the UK high street and the retailer is renowned for rewarding staff with generous wages, bonuses and additional perks. Little wonder then that University Graduates look to John Lewis as a dream employer when they leave University.

John Lewis has now widened its graduate recruitment programme and from September 2010 the retailer will offer a choice of management roles to successful candidates. For those looking to work within the Purchasing function, John Lewis has created a Buying Graduate Scheme which allows the candidate to start as an assistant buyer on a fast track training programme, which should see them sourcing globally after 3-5 years. Additionally, John Lewis has created a Merchandising Graduate Scheme, recruiting candidates with good analytical skills to work alongside the Buyers. Previously, all graduates were required to work at store level before progressing to head office positions.

John Lewis job vacancies are highly sought after and graduate positions are available with a starting salary of around £24,000. Those who make successful progress as a Buyer can achieve a salary ranging from £40,000-£80,000.
