Ford, the global car manufacturing giant has today revealed plans for a staggering £1.5bn investment in its South Wales car plant at Bridgend. This is great news for the workforce as around 2000 jobs with the company and thousands more with Ford’s suppliers will now be safeguarded.
Like its rival Nissan, Ford has received a government grant to invest in cars of the future and much of this investment will be put towards the development of eco friendly engines. Between the two organisations workers will be sure that over 4000 jobs are safe.
Workers leaving the factory at the end of their shift today are delighted to hear this news with many saying a recent downturn in sales had led them to believe their jobs were at risk.
