Fashion designer Jeff Banks will be officially opening the new Debenhams store in Bath on Thursday 2nd September 2010. The store is the centre piece in Bath’s SouthGate development and has created an additional 200 jobs in the city. Debenhams has hinted that recruitment will continue past the store opening date as they get to grips with consumer demand patterns in the run up to the Christmas trading period.
In addition to the 200 new jobs with Debenhams, the SouthGate Centre has created working opportunities for well over 1000 people. The centre has partnered with West at Work and a project is currently underway to train and support local people to ensure they can match the business industry needs in the city of Bath.
