Airbus employees have welcomed the news that around 5000 jobs will be safeguarded at factories in Broughton and Bristol thanks to a Government loan of around £340m.
The investment will be channelled towards the development of the wide-bodied A350XWB aircraft.
A spokesperson for The Society of British Aerospace Companies has said “In uncertain times it is this type of action that gives people hope and confidence for the future. It will maintain Broughton’s role in the global aerospace industry.”
He added: “This is good news for Broughton and builds upon the centre of excellence we have established at Airbus.”
Such a significant investment not only helps the workers at Airbus, but also those employed by companies trading with and supplying the manufacturer.
