20,000 new Jobs with Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s, the UK’s number two food retailer has provided a welcome jobs boost to the UK economy by announcing that it expects to hire 20,000 new employees in the run up to Christmas. These new recruits will initially be employed on temporary contracts but around 1000 will be made permanent at the turn of the year.
The main duties these seasonal staff members will be expected to undertake include working on the checkouts, stacking shelves and co-ordinating and picking home delivery orders.
Sainsbury’s is gaining market share from rival Tesco, with recent figures revealing that market share is up to 15.9%. Tesco is still a good deal ahead, with a market share of around 31%.
